The finals and facing my fears!!

So the day arrived! 22nd September, early start with fellow contestent Hannah (with some maccy brekkie to fill us up for the day) and we were off!! Trying to find Brighton on the satnav which failed so phone directions! We arrived before anyone else so I just HAD to pratice on the stage, strutting to "Sexy and i know it". Comedy is always a good start to the day! So we rehearsed in our Uk's Dazzling Beauty tops, pink shorts and white shoes! A long day ahead! we had a quick break where me, hannah and verity ran to the nearest beahside shop and armed ourself with goodies!

As you can see from the side of me! hehe
Then it was straight to interviews, where I must of blabbed too much but they saw my portfolio with my blogs so they can see I'm a bit of a chatterbox! Then run up the three flights of stairs to be laced into my pink dress for the pink hollywood round!
I couldnt get out of this dress!! Lucky for pageant girls always help out, esp as others have corsetted backs! hehe Then back on stage  in our black dresses again for onstage interviews, lots of talking! My question was if you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be? I chose random, smiley and trusting. Odd mix but i'm sure my explanations were understood!

Then United Kingdom round, my fav! This is my fav eco dress, it took me forever to make and my hands were in pain from being stabbed from the needles! (I was never good at sewing)I loved walking on stage, waving the flag proud! Pulling silly faces to my friends (away from the judges, you can't always be serious!).

Talent round next, and i chose to sing. Sooooo i've never sang in front of an audience before, like ever. I don't even sing to my family, although the odd session on singstar at family parties! The fact that I chose what was going to be my wedding song, it seemed well silly! But I sang for closure, and I sang my little heart out! I think people thought I was going to be crap haha. At the end I did get emotional, which made others emotional too! But i did it! And i am so happy i did, facing the fear!

There was amazing dancing and everyone put on a show. But the best bit about the finals, evening dress round!! I see it as a mental shopping trip in my head looking at the other girls's dresses, they are gorgeous! I had a gorge sherri hill dress, lent to me by my amazing sister queen Ruth and I loved it so much! I NEED to open my own dress shop, well order Kylie's entire collection @ Stardust Boutique. After walking what seemed like snailpace, it was award time!!!!

The awards i won was Beauty Queen of the Month September 2012 for my hard work throughout the month which was so nice and unexpected! Then the real suprise was winning Miss Talent UK for my singing, the crying didn't ruin it!! Then the last was to be called 1st Runner Up Uks Dazzling Beauty, to place was amazing but to win runner up, i felt like i had won the big crown! Well done to the winner Louise who had worked really hard for that tile! Also big well done to my sister Hannah for winning England's Dazzling Beauty! I was so proud of her! And massive thank you to my sister wiltshire beauty queens who came all that way to see me, next time it will be you guys!! I love how pageants bring people close together and what Miss Wiltshire galaxy said, "pageant friends are friend for life". So true <3

Sunday school

Last Sunday, after hiking 15k for prospect hospice (boy did my feet kill, I don’t think my legs have fully recovered yet!) me, Miss Wiltshire Galaxy and Miss Swindon attended Sunday School, a family fundraiser for Prospect Hospice which involved one of my favourite things in the world, a bouncy castle!! So I think we were the only adults on there! Georgia had an excuse of having her gorge lil baba Henry to take on there; me and Ela just haven’t grown up yet! There was also a bbq, which me being a vegetarian wasn’t much option for me but Ela digged in on some great homemade chicken with rice and peas! We were interviewed by Swindon TV, outside in the freezing cold (weather could of helped us!) but it was great to meet up with the girls, gossip a bit and raise some money. They are also holding a Swish Ball at the Swindon Meca on the 20th Oct which I shall be attending with the other girls so search online and get your tickets!! Remember, you are NEVER too old for a bouncy castle, life is too short to be serious 100 per cent of the time and laughing makes you look younger! If I get mistaken for a 17 year old still when I’m 23 (feeling very old in the pageant game!) then something must be working!! J

Less than a week to go!

Less than a week until the Uks Dazzling beauty finals and I am just bursting with excitement yet fear! I started my pageant journey over two years ago in my hometown of Swindon, not knowing what to do, placing my hand on my butt and trying to smile all the time! I came runner up so I must not have been doing too badly but I look back and think “Oh my gosh, how much have I learnt since then!” This picture shows the day I truly caught the pageant bug. And now I will be going to Brighton to compete in the finals of the first ever Uks Dazzling beauty! Since I started I have competed in other finals like Miss Galaxy England, Miss Earth, Miss England (Semis) but in every final I have always felt nervous and they all want different things! Two years on and I still get the flutter of butterflies and the shaky legs as I walk onto the stage. But I will be representing my county, just not my town, so am going to put 110 per cent into it! I’ve been walking up and down my hallway practicing my walk (also so I don’t fall over as if I did fall over on stage, people will be youtubing that for years, the shame!), using my nieces microphone to practice my talent (this is what I’m most nervous about, vie never sang live in front of an audience!) and generally getting into pageant mode. You see me walking down the streets or the hallways; I could be practicing my pageant walk there! I am very blessed that I will have my three other beautiful Wiltshire beauty queens coming along to cheer me on, a first for me! So I have to bring my A game to show why I should have the title of one of Wiltshire’s beauty queens! Either way I’m looking forward to travelling somewhere new, meeting new friends for life and fingers, toes and everything else crossed, bringing the title back to Wiltshire!!!

Touchdown!!!

Last Sunday me and Miss Wiltshire Ruth were invited to take part in the coin toss for Swindon Storms first game of the season at the grounds in Royal Wootton Bassett, also home to Wootton Bassett Rugby Club. Now Swindon Storm are Swindon's American Football Team and it was amazing to watch! (Even though I had no clue what was happening and had expert Ruth telling me what was happening!). Although they may not of won, it was close with Gloucester winning 20 to Swindon's 14 points.

It was great to catch up with Ruth as well, since i couldn't make the pre-Grand finals for UKs dazzling Beauty, I could at least make an appearance! I can't wait for the next came, Oct 7th against Oxford where this time I will be studying up on all the rules and will know everything! In the meantime like the facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Swindon-Storm-American-Football-Team/278783278805681 for updates on the team or even to join yourselves! Think you can handle it!

50 cuts in 50 hours for Tami's Wish...

Today I was lucky to help out at an amazing event called 50 cuts in 50 hours, raising funds for Yes to Life and Prospect Hospice in memory of an inspirational woman called Tami Brown who sadly lost her long battle with cancer in July. But her legacy lives on with Tami's Wish, ran by her family and close friends who are continuing to raise funds for the charities close to Tami's heart. This event is to break a world record and also record funds for these two charities, with hairdresser Chis Miller of Miller and Holland in Old Town, Swindon (https://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/pages/Miller-Holland/216936305084879) attempting 50 hair cuts in 50 hours!! Amazing! There was also cakes, children's nail painting, 10 minute massages and facepainting which is where I came in!

I spent 7 hours on a gorgeous hot day (not that I would of known) face painting the children (and some adults!) of Wiltshire. From pink tigers, butterflys and superheroes, with lots of glitter! I had great fun helping out, so much painitng that my white and black facepaints ran out!! I also had the pleasure of painting children who I used to look after, at the Children's Nursery and Lyneham Village Pre-School. It's so great to see them growing up! And still remembering me!

There was also amazing music from Swindon band Colour the Atlas (https://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/colourtheatlas) which defo shows that Swindon has alot of talent!! I also painted one of the band members cheeks!

I wore my Wiltshire's Dazzling Beauty crown and sash and this lil princess looks beautiful wearing the crown don't you think? A few hours in and the paint still stayed! :) This event is still going on, all the way til Monday morning! So if you are in Swindon please check it out and make a donation, or even get your hair cut and be part of a record! If you cant make it, there is something that anyyyone can do, pick up your phone, thats it, in your hand! Now open up a text and put the digits CUTS50 £5 (or however much you want to donate) to 70070. See you don't even have to move out of your seat and you've done something amazing! Or donate via here http://www.justgiving.com/50cutsin50hours. I am honoured to have helped out at such an amazing event, and want to help out as much as I can in future Tami Wish events. Wishing good luck to Chris, Kris and the rest of the team!

Hello Mr Postman!

It's been a long day of work, gym and promotional pictures for prospect hospice for their Starlight walk (15 sept) and I arrive home to packages!! Yey! Usually the post is just bills or junk mail so to have packages is like christmas come early! The first was my university books (long year ahead studying) and the second was my beautiful crown and sash!! Excuse the mess but i had to get a picture in it straight away! I can't wait to start wearing it out and about, and so excited for the finals on the 22nd Sept. Watch out UK, because this Wiltshire lass is coming for that title!!<3

Starting with this weekend, there is an amazing 50 cuts in 50 hours, for Tami Brown down at the Brunel Centre, Swindon so get down there to get your hair cut for charity, I will be there face painting, there are also massages, nail treatments, proper pampering!! Then sunday there is the Swindon Storm's first game of the season at Ballards Ash, Royal Wootton Bassett! Can't wait to see some American Football, and also to see my Miss Wiltshire Ruth again, who is bringing along a gorge dress for me to wear to the finals of uks dazzling beauty!! :D exciting stuff!! I have nearly everything now, pink wear, united kindom wear, just need to sort out that talent now!!! Singing or poetry?!!! Tough choice!

So you will all be treated to a video blog soon as part of the uks dazzling beauty comp, so you can be nosey and see what i really look like (webcam is awful tho) but I will be answering questions and the like, fun times! Not long now! Glad to be back in the game!

Love your Wiltshire's Dazzling Beauty 2012

Sunday, 12 August 2012

:D

So my great news is that I have been selected to represent Wiltshire in the first UK Dazzling Beauty finals in september, held in two parts (cue happy smiley face like this picture! Copyright Kris Talikowski). I am so happy to be representing my county and to be part of something new! So my new shiny crown (Ah i do love them!) and sash are on their way so when the postman/woman brings it there will be facebook overload of pictures! I can't wait to start making appearances, and meeting all the girls! I have already met the lovely Emma Draper at Miss English beauty finals where she had amazing glitter eye makeup! And also excited that my twin name Hannah Davis will be competing as Bristol's Dazzling Beauty! I first met Hannah at the Miss Bristol City finals July 2010, my second pageant which i was clueless as I turned up in a beautiful maxi dress but was outblinged by all the sparkles and slinky numbers! Since then we have remained in contact and competed together at the Miss galaxy England finals in 2011, both wearing red (I had the sparkles this time!). This is why i love entering pageants as you meet friends for life!

So i can only hope and wait for my sash to make the appearances but already have lots of charity ideas to undertake, and will look for all the outfits i need for the final! And make my video, so embarassing moments to come! Thank you all for reading!
